This is a drawing of two women, Maudette and Maggie, who live in Paris. I found this photograph in a magazine, and asked the photographer if I could use it as a reference image for a drawing. The women in reminded me of my Grandma Shirley, when I used to watch her in the morning, getting ready for the day. The curlers in their hair, their blue eyes, and their expressions made me think of her. Shirley passed away in 2015, shortly before the drawing was made. I often saw two different sides of her--the private side, and the public side. In this drawing, one woman is looking at the other, as if they are seeing different sides of the same person.
