This piece is a response to a trip to Italy in 2009. I was invited to stay with a curator who was showing my work at an old Etruscan castle outside of Rome called "El Castillo de Santa Severa."
The curator was quite demanding and condescending. She reproached me for a number of things: cutting my spaghetti with a knife, licking my knife, leaving the burner on in her kitchen, and blowing a fuse. I think the last event was most symbolic, as I felt that I, too, had blown a fuse. So, I left early, went home, and made a painting about the trip.
