I lived in Chile in 1998 and traveled around the country for a year. I went to a group of small island chains in the South of Chile and made sketches of abandoned boats. This is a painting derived from those sketches. The hull of a boat is like a human rib cage. I saw the locals making boats on this small island, which was green, lush, and full of life. I long to return.
