Hershey's Kisses
Kisses, #2
Oil on canvas
11" h by 14" w
2020

I was fascinated by the shiny, crinkly texture of the foil wrapped around the kisses. I wanted to paint five of them adjacent to each other because I was intrigued by how the different colors such as red, blue, pink and green reflected off each other. The abstract shapes were like little interlocking puzzle pieces. For me, making art is like solving a type of puzzle. The subject of the puzzle is understanding light and color on a deep level filled with nuance. This trompe l'oeil painting is a little treasure.
